CARMIX 3.5TT MIXES 25MPA CONCRETE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE IN ONSEEPKANS, NORTHERN CAPE

The Carmix South Africa team recently completed a floor slab for the Department of Agriculture in Onseepkans, Northern Cape. Onseepkans is a small town situated on the Orange River and acts as a border post between South Africa and Namibia. The region is a highly productive grape farming area and it is only accessible by 50km of dirt road, which removes ready mix concrete as a viable option for concrete supply. The land redistribution movement in South Africa has resulted in the community of Onseepkans being designated 40 hectares of land suitable for the production of table grapes and raisins. The Carmix solution used for this project was Carmix 3.5TT, which produced 25mpa concrete for the storage facility where the grapes have been stored before delivery. Using the Carmix 3.5TT, the 70m3 floor slab took four days to complete as concrete batching was stopped to allow time for floating.

A SOLUTION FOR EVERY INCOVENIENCE

On the fourth and final day, the Carmix 3.5TT threw a fan-belt risking to stop the production. Sometimes, an engine failure can lead to extreme situations, such as having to interrupt all activities when finding the spare parts needed becomes an issue. That is not the case of Carmix. As a matter of fact, the inconvenience was promptly resolved since the Perkins engine installed on the self-loading cement mixer was found in no time. This shows the benefit of having a Carmix where spares are readily available even in the most isolated areas.

CARMIX 3.5TT, SYNONYMOUS OF AGILITY AND PRODUCTIVITY

Carmix 3.5TT is the small mobile batching plant agile and easy to use: its length – just over five meters with the front loader raised – can reach any place and operate in small spaces. There is also the ability to rotate the barrel at 300° to load from over two meters of height on all four sides of the machine. This way, it is possible to direct the concrete jet with the utmost precision, leaving the machine motionless on a single spot. The short turning radius, 1700 mm internally and 3700 mm externally, ensures great agility on site.
